Good Stories are a Group Project
First Drafts are for discovering the story. Revisions bring it to life.

Beta Reading
You've written a story! First, take breath and celebrate because that is massive. You've made it past the first gauntlet. Now you need another set of eyes to determine if the bones are there and where to go next.
I have read and workshopped hundreds of pieces with other authors, and can help with finding those dreaded plotholes, assessing character, setting, or themes. Or just a general vibe check, whatever you need.
I'm an ideal reader for anything magical realism, speculative, gothic, thriller, romance, historical, or low-fantasy.
I may not be your best fit for sci-fi, high-fantasy, or non-fiction.
Developmental
Developmental editing focuses on structure, plot, pacing etc. Those big picture pieces that make up the scaffolding of the story itself. I can review your manuscript or short story for the structural elements and ensure the bones of it are strong.
This is recommended prior to a line edit. You don't want to spend time making your sentences sing if you will be cutting that chapter anyhow!

Line Editing
Once you have your story carved out, line editing is the first round of polish. We focus on cadence and rhythm, transitions, clarity, and refining those sentences until they shine.
